Sathya Sai Shiksha Sadan

THE SADAN

Sathya Sai Shiksha Sadan is an English medium school. It is a service institution, which accepts students irrespective of caste, color, creed, nationality, religion, or gender. The school started in 1996 as Shri Shiksha Sadan with a total of 150 students in grades I-V. With the addition of a grade each year, the Sadan completed a cycle of ten grades in 2001 and further added grades eleven and twelve in 2020-21 and became a full-fledged secondary school. Altogether 793 students have passed the SEE/SLC Examinations from 2002 to 2021. It is deeply satisfying for the school to declare that no Grade X student has been detained from appearing in the SEE/SLC examinations. All the students have passed in good grades. These graduates are either pursuing higher education in prominent schools in Nepal and abroad or working at good jobs in various offices and institutions. Despite tremendous challenges of many different kinds from other schools all around, the Sadan has held its sway mainly because of the excellence of its education for human values. In the current 2021-22 academic session there are altogether 477 students in Grades I-XII, among whom 170 are girls and 323 are residential. The Sadan is proud to have been given recognition as an affiliate to the worldwide Institute of Sri Sathya Sai Education. It is nonetheless a full-fledged government recognized and accredited school in Nepal following the courses and regulations prescribed by the Government of Nepal. It has also the added prerogative of being a school for teaching human values according to the best traditions of Sri Sathya Sai Education, and in order to reflect its added dimension Sri Shiksha Sadan has been named Sathya Sai Shiksha Sadan. Blessed with the holy name of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, the Sadan will endeavor to live up to the highest expectations of a great educational institution for human values.

The Sadan abides by the Education Act and Rules of the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. It follows the national curriculum and its students sit in all the tests and examinations administered by the government or its related bodies. Besides meeting these minimum requirements, the Sadan provides instruction in a variety of disciplines. Students can sample a carefully chosen course of study, which is comprised of traditional and modern subjects and skills.
A special feature of the Sadan is its resident teachers. Students, teachers, and other school personnel form a nurturing community. Besides ensuring an atmosphere of love, care, and security, this arrangement helps to foster togetherness, harmony, and mutual trust. However, the Sadan also has a few reputed teachers on a part-time basis to teach specialized subjects.

The school relies on tested teaching methods and materials. Computers, audiovisual equipment, LCD projectors, and other teaching tools are combined with powerful instructional approaches such as silent sitting/meditation, prayers/inspirational quotations, storytelling, group singing, and group activities. Students are encouraged to think and explore for themselves. Not by memorizing but by finding things on their own can children become well educated. A Sadan student comes to realize that although scholastic achievements are important, they are not more important than the building of a noble character.

Our school is not just a building composed of bricks and mortar; it is a community of caring teachers and staff who guide students towards truth, right conduct, peace, love and non-violence. Our vision of education includes a progression from knowledge to wisdom, from credulity to critical thinking, from appearance to reality. We encourage each student to independently discover and experience this process. As Bhagavan Baba has said:

There is only one Religion, the Religion of Love;
There is only one Caste, the Caste of Humanity;
There is only one Language, the Language of Heart;
There is only one God, He is Omnipresent.
